May 30th was one kick-ass party in Bamberg’s Wunderburg, during our Rock ‘n’ Roll “Frühschoppen” at Mahr’s Bräu. The sensational Spunyboys did the honors and rocked our brewery courtyard with their swing. In front of hundreds of dance-crazed, jovial, die-hard fans – plus those who just came to enjoy this beautiful sunshiny day – they communed their passion with the audience and solidified a great atmosphere with songs like, “Don’t Ring the Bell” and “Honey Hides The Bottle”. The Spunyboys was started in 2006 in northern France by two brothers Remi (double bassist and vocalist) & Guillaume (drummer), becoming a trio in 2011 when Eddie (guitar) joined the group. Their influences stem from Hill Country Blues, 50’s RNB/Rock ‘n’ Roll, and Mississippi Blues (New Orleans, Memphis, Chicago) – mixing in the styles of a few British rockers. This can be most distinctly recognized by their covers of Cliff Richard, Crazy Cavan and Flying Saucers, which include the music of Carl Perkins, Ronnie Dawson, Little Richard and Johnny Horton, as well as in the band’s own repertoire of songs. In 2016, the Spunyboys played 800 gigs and toured 15 countries, playing in more than 300 cities. It was great to see you guys!
