ODE TO THE “HELLES” – A LOVE LETTER

My dearest Helles, I have wanted to tell you this for a long time now, and I do believe the time is right… You are truly divine! Straight and to the point, no need for pretentious words, just an honest and unassuming beer – creamy head atop golden amber brilliance, mild taste, delicate aromatic spice and discrete sweetness with a bouquet of flowering hops. A malty finish that says just one thing: “Go on, do it again, come on…have another.” Whether paired with braised or fried fish, salad, mild cheese, stew or just as a standalone indulgence, you are delightful through and through. I enjoy you as much on balmy summer evenings as I do after winter’s first frost; as intensely when relaxing on the couch as I do in the pub. It goes without saying, what a delight you are for the eye to behold. You truly look as beautiful as you taste.
